My Passion for Practice
Dr Megan Heber, DPT, was involved in advanced gymnastics and dance as a child and her passion for dance has extended into adulthood. She was a member of the dance team at Simmons College, where she not only danced but choreographed custom numbers and served as Company President. At Simmons, she earned her bachelor’s degree in exercise science and advanced on to the accelerated physical therapy program and graduated with her doctorate. Her advanced physical therapy techniques and custom physical therapy programs in Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks and Agoura Hills are top rated by PLUSdoc. Megan spent her clinical rotations at Boston Sports Medicine—mentored by a therapist certified in Active Release Technique (ART)—Hebrew Senior Life Rehabilitation, and the Boston Ballet Company. She worked with the professional company for 15 weeks both in the studios and at the Opera House for performances. Dr. Heber was subsequently offered a position as an advanced physical therapist with the company for the Nutcracker season and upcoming spring performances. Her specialized experience as a dancer and therapist allows her valuable insight into the world of dance medicine and general sports medicine and orthopedics for athletes. In addition to working with the Boston Ballet, she also practiced at another sports medicine orthopedic-based clinic in Wilmington, MA that specializes in custom dance medicine. She continues to develop her skills in the use of instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) and in Australian Physiotherapy Pilates Institute (APPI) brand of Pilates.
